Bloomsbury Aikido Club

(Go Shin Kai Aikido Association www.goshinkai.org.uk)

Bloomsbury Aikido is a UCL Alumni Aikido Group club which convenes in Camden/Bloomsbury for training reunions and special classes. We practise traditional, Aikikai, Aikido. For updates on our activities and Aikido connections, please see www.bloomsburyaikido.co.uk. All grades and beginners and visitors from all associations (18+years) are welcome.

Aikido philosophy is to resolve conflict through harmonisation, so traditional Aikido is non-competitive. Aikido uses flowing movements to blend with the motion of the attacker. This allows the defender to respond to the attacker in a less severe manner. Aikido does not rely on physical strength so everyone is able to practice together. Training aims to develop positive spirit, a stable centre, presence of mind, fitness, co-ordination, mental and physical flexibility - qualities useful in self-defence and in dealing with stresses in daily life.
