Where is the service located and what areas does it cover?

Our Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Outreach service works across many London Boroughs, including Camden. The support can be provided in a person's home or out in the local community. We will come to you.

Who does your service provide for?

For adults aged 18+ who are on the autistic spectrum or who have Asperger’s Syndrome, and want support to live more independently. We are experienced in working with young people leaving Children's Services and transitioning to Adult Services.

How can a child or young person start using the service?

If you would like to find out a bit more about how we work and the services we provide for people with ASD, or if you would like to make a referral for our outreach service, please get in touch using the contact details on this page.

Most of the young people who access our Outreach service have been given a personal budget by their local authority (in this case Camden Council) and decide to use this budget to pay to use our Outreach service. However, we can also support people who decide to pay privately.

How are decisions made about eligibility for your service?

A member of our team will visit the young person and his/her family to assess his/her needs and decide how the service can best benefit that young person.

How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making/planning?

We work closely with our customers, their parents and/or carers. We provide a range of workshops and training courses to share best practices with parents, carers and professionals. We organise regular, ongoing meetings with parents/carers, send invitations to quarterly events, and produce a monthly newsletter. Our aims are to respond to the needs and views of family members by maintaining regular and ongoing communication.

Is your service fully accessible?

We support customers in their own homes or out in the community. Therefore, it depends on the accessibility of these locations. However, when supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorders or Asperger's Syndrome, we will only go to locations agreed by each young person and where he or she is comfortable.

What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had/or will be they be getting?

Our Outreach service is Autism Accredited by the National Autistic Society. This means that our services meet or exceed benchmarked quality standards in the delivery of specialist support for people on the autism spectrum. Therefore, all our staff undertake a comprehensive programme of training and professional development to meet these benchmarks.

Who should a service user contact if they want to raise a concern or complain about something?

A customer, or his/her family/carer, can speak to the manager of our ASD Outreach service if they have a concern or wish to complain. Her name is Christine Haugh, and can be reached by phone on 078 795 55580 or by email at CHaugh@outward.org.uk. Outward also has its own customer complaints process, if a customer wants to raise a complaint directly with us.

Who can a parent carer/young person contact for further information?

Please get in touch with Outward directly, asking for the New Business Team, on 020 8980 7101 or by email at info@outward.org.uk
