Crossroads Women

(Runs the Crossroads Womens Centre)
Crossroads Women's Centre brings together women from different ages, backgrounds and communities to share experiences, and learn from and support each other. It is a place of safety for vulnerable and low-income women. Men ready to work with women in a mutually supportive way are also welcome. Activities include research, meetings, cooking, community consultations and surveys, exhibitions, film and theatre workshops, publishing fact sheets, leaflets, pamphlets, website design and maintenance, books, and much more – and training in these skills. Through the Centre women and our loved ones can get practical help to: escape sexual and racial violence; access information about our rights; oppose discrimination of all kinds; participate in self-help activities and peer support; volunteer; train in new skills; find out about other local and London-wide services; get support for community, cultural, educational, health or social projects. The Centre supports breastfeeding. Mothers needing a space can drop in to feed their babies. The Centre is a base for 16 diverse independent groups with their own projects and services: Black Womens Rape Action Project, English Collective of Prostitutes, Global Womens Strike, All African Womens Group, Women Against Rape, Single Mothers Self Defence, Wages Due Lesbians, Wages for Housework Campaign, WinVisible (Women with Visible and Invisible Disabilities), Queer Strike (LBGT in the Global Women’s Strike), Women of Colour in the Global Womens Strike and Payday Mens Network. Legal Action for Women co-ordinates self-help justice work.
