Camden residents can bring non-recyclable household waste. Trade waste and builders rubble should be taken to a commercial rubbish tip.
Van and trailer procedure
If you are intending to use a van, pick up or car with a trailer (over 4 foot in length) to dispose of your own household waste or items for reuse and recycling at the Reuse and Recycling Centres (RRCs) please book directly at the following : www.vanbookings.co.uk You will need to pre-book with the site 24 hours in advance. If there is any problem using the online van bookings system please call 020 8489 5730 and we can help with your booking.
Please note the maximum size of vehicle allowed is a transit van or equivalent. Luton vans and tipper vans are not permitted
Van and trailer bookings need to be made directly with the site you are planning to visit. When booking your vehicle in you will need to supply the site with the following information:
- Address and post code
- Vehicle registration or name of hire company if registration is not known
- Date of proposed visit
Once your vehicle booking has been confirmed you will need to take along proof of residency and identification on the day of your booking, to show that you are a resident of north London living within the London boroughs of Camden, Hackney, Haringey or Islington.
Forms of identification accepted are:
- Council tax bill
- Driving licence
- Utility bill
- Rent agreement
- Bank statement
- Mobile phone bill
From 4 January 2016 you are able to bring a van to the following Reuse and Recycling Centres in north London:
- Summers Lane RRC, Barnet
- Regis Road RRC, Camden
- Western Road RRC, Haringey
- Hornsey Street RRC, Islington
Vans are welcome at these RRCs on any day of the week, but each household can only bring a van to an RRC up to five times a year. If you want to bring a van to an RRC you must book with the site 24 hours before you want to come, and bring proof of residency and a form of identification (ID).
Vans are not accepted at the following RRCs:
- King’s Road RRC, Waltham Forest
- Gateway Road RRC, Waltham Forest
Rubble and soil
From 4 January 2016 each household can bring:
- Up to six standard rubble sacks of soil each month.
- Up to six standard rubble sacks of rubble each month.
A standard rubble sack is 20” by 30” or equivalent.
You can bring rubble to any of our RRCs in north London. You can bring soil to any of our RRCs in north London apart from Gateway Road RRC.
Please note, from 30th January 2016 a 1.85m height restriction barrier will be in use on site. The height barrier will be opened for cars and vans above this height as per the "van procedure” (see above)
