Camden local offer

Capital Investment in Local Placements for Children and Young People with High Needs.

The government has introduced a new national funding formula for how local authorities receive money for children and young people with high needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

As part of this re-design of the budget, the government are providing an additional capital budget to all local authorities to develop new places for children and young people with high needs. London Borough of Camden will be receiving around £1.3m from this fund. This will be paid over three years from April 2018 (just over £400,000 per year)

In order to qualify for the additional funding, Camden have to publish how they plan to spend the budget, and how they have consulted parents and carers in developing provision for children and young people with high needs.

In the last two years, we have produced a strategy for SEND as well as an Autism Plan (both can be found on the Local Offer pages). Parents and carers were involved in both of these developments and our plans for the additional capital budget have been developed from these documents.

The spreadsheet here, sets out how we plan to spend the funding and how we have consulted with parents and carers. Where additional places will be created has not yet been decided so this spreadsheet should be viewed as a work in progress and will be updated as developments are agreed and can be made public. In addition, Camden is planning to make significant contributions to the capital expenditure and, again, these figures have yet to be confirmed but will be updated once costs have been agreed.

If you have any queries or questions about this funding and how it will be spent, please contact us through the Local Offer contact form.
