Where is the service located and what areas does it cover?

We are based in Fairfield Play Centre, Mary Terrace NW1 7LR, just off Camden high street. We have no catchment area, but you do need to be a Camden resident.

Who does your service provide for?

Vulnerable families, or family from disadvantaged backgrounds, children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities, and all children in the local community.

How can a child or young person start using the service?

Please call or visit the centre to receive a registration form and personal needs form. Before you start we will need a copy of the child’s birth certificate and if the child is in receipt of the 2 year old early education funding, we will need the letter from Camden that states you were successful. Referrals can also be made through Mosaic, the early help team or children’s centre services.

How are decisions made about eligibility for your service?

Children are accepted on a first come first served basis. Children in receipt of the two year old nursery early education funding or who are three years old (from the term after they turn three) will be entitled to 15 hours free child care per week.

How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making/planning?

Each child will have a key person who will be the main point of contact for the families. The key person will be available on each of the child’s nursery days. The manager has an open door policy so all service users can come in and chat at any time. Newsletters are sent out once a term. Letters are sent out to inform of any changes. Someone is always around to answer the phone. Each term our families are given an anonymous feedback forms for them to tell us how they think we are doing and how we can improve the service we provide. Once a term we hold parents meetings for all of the families that use the service which is another opportunity for families to tell us how they feel about the service.

Is your service fully accessible?

Yes.

What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had/or will be they be getting?

Many staff have been trained in working with children with autism, three member of staff are PECS trained. Many staff member have been trained in Makaton. Many member of staff have been trained in tube feeding. Many members of staff have been trained in using Epi-pens. Many members of staff have been trained in using an insulin pump.
