- Where is the service located and what areas does it cover?
The Overnights are generally held at Fortune Green Play Centre in West Hampstead. We have also held overnights on an accessible barge (The Pirate Prince) and at Fairfield Play Centre in Camden Town. We are also working to include different sites for future overnights.
- Who does your service provide for?
Overnight Stays are accessible to all children referred by Camden Disabled Children’s Team in MOSAIC. Where possible we will also aim to invite a friend or sibling, depending on the needs and dynamic within the group. Activities, menus and any trips are planned around the needs / likes of each group.
- How can a child or young person start using the service?
The scheme is accessible via referral from Camden MOSAIC disabled children’s team in MOSAIC.
- How are decisions made about eligibility for your service?
Decisions about eligibility are made by the MOSAIC Short Breaks Panel.
- How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making/planning?
Parent/s and children are generally invited to visit and observe an overnight in action prior to their first overnight stay - this has been useful in gradually easing children into the service and developing trust. We work closely with parents to ensure children settle and enjoy the overnight experience, and keep in touch with parents via phone or email. We welcome parental involvement in planning and evaluating the service as it develops.
- Is your service fully accessible?
Yes, our service is fully accessible. We will also make any adaptations or access training as necessary based on the needs of each child/group.
- What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had/or will be they be getting?
The team supporting children overnight have many years experience and are trained in working with children with a range of needs -including children with ASD and Multiple and Complex disabilities.
