WAC provides overnight weekends and holiday residentials. Their short breaks service use outdoor education adventure centres within easy reach of London in the surrounding countryside. The accommodation provided is accessible and the activities included are are supported by venue staff as well as their own staff team to enable all young people to be facilitated. Activities on offer include: swimming, sailing, canoeing, power boats, jet skis, quad bikes, climbing, high and low ropes, zip wire, off road driving, archery, fencing, music and percussion sessions, art, pond dipping, yoga, tai chi, storytelling around the bonfire, horse riding and trips to the seaside during the summer, as well as disco, karaoke and performing art sessions in the evening facilitated by their staff team. They currently use fivedifferent venues, each offering a different experience in terms of accommodation and activities. Additional to the above, the team works intensely around personal development and independence. The young people are able to take part in food preparation on trips where they self cater, clean up after meals, keep their rooms tidy and are supported with their own personal care as well as social interaction with their peers. They will take their own nurse along on these trips so, although their staff teams are trained to care for many medical procedures and needs, they will also have a trained nurse on site to support the young person and assist in the administration of medication.

- Where is the service located and what areas does it cover?
We are located in: Hampstead Town Hall 213 Haverstock Hill, London NW3 4QP Nearest tube: Belsize park We work with young people living in the borough of Camden.
- Who does your service provide for?
Our service provides for 11-17 year olds, who are Camden residents who meet the criteria and have the overnight short breaks within their care plan.
- How can a child or young person start using the service?
A young person can start using the service if a referral has been received from MOSAIC / social worker.
- How are decisions made about eligibility for your service?
Decisions about eligibility is based on criteria set by the MOSAIC integrated service social care team and the implementation of care plans.
- How do you communicate with service users and how are they involved in decision making/planning?
Once service users are on roll letters /emails will be sent out with invitations for the next planned overnight activity. The Disability officer will liaise with parents and answer all enquiries. Parents and young people are a part of the evaluation process which feeds into future projects as well as the use of steering groups and feedback from each session.

- What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had/or will be they be getting?
Our staff teams have been trained in the following: • Child protection and safeguarding procedures • Disability awareness • Confidentiality • Good communication skills, including use of different communication methods e.g PECS /Makaton • Manual Handling & Safe use of aids and equipment • Managing challenging behaviour • Boundary settings • Working with Parents • Conflict Management • Working with people who have physical and sensory disabilities Relevant NVQ Qualification or relevant experience of working with this user group • Use of Sensory equipment • Risk Assessment • Basic first aid First Aid certificate • University degrees and Master degrees • ABA training • Autism awareness training • Teaching qualifications Alongside the above many of our staff are also performing arts specialists/youth workers/playworkers and SEND teachers.
