Transport strategy gives strategic guidance for all aspects of transport in the borough. It encourages people to use more sustainable kinds of travel. This is so that we help make the borough the best place to live, work and visit. The team includes transport policy, design, public realm and planning, and smarter travel.
Responsible for transport policy, road safety and management of funded programmes relating to the Mayor of London's transport budget, such as the Local Implementation Plan (LIP). The Transport Strategy service covers traffic management strategies, projects and programmes, including the following:
- 20mph schemes
- business travel plans
- car clubs
- casualty reduction statistical analysis
- cycle skills training
- controlled parking zones and reviews
- electric vehicles
- pedestrian skills training (for children)
- road safety education and events
- school travel plans
- school crossing patrols
- streetscape design
- traffic calming
- traffic monitoring
- transport observations (for planning applications)
- sustainable travel
- the West End Project (and other area based schemes)
- work related road risk.
