London Metropolitan Archives
(Formerly the Greater London Record Office)
The service has 85 kilometres of archives, maps, plans, prints, photographs and books primarily relating to the history of London. Archives include local government bodies such as the Greater London Council, the London and Middlesex County Councils, the Metropolitan Board of Works and the City of London. Also includes London and Middlesex Sessions of the Peace records - judicial and administrative - from 1549. Parish, Poor Law, businesses, charities, courts and hospitals all strongly represented. 100,000 volume history library. Educational activities available for all ages.
